I'm looking for a GFX card that could run BF3 on close to ultra settings.

Want nVidia preferably, but will go ATI if it is cheaper.

Could you tell me what the cheapest card I could get to do this is please.

Thanks

On Ultra at 1080p? I would say you should be in GTX480/GTX570/GTX50/HD6970/HD6950 territory.....

And if you want to be adding AA, look for the top-tier cards. Can't confirm the above as I play at 2560x1440 with GTX480 SLI, all Ultra apart from AA.

A 2GB 560ti or 6950 would be your absolute minimum for what you want. Perhaps wait amd see what sort of pricing the new 7850/70 come in at and their performance? Due out in march apparently.

Hi there,

If you really want Nvidia then I would wait a month until Nvidia release their next-Gen 28nm Kepler cards. Spending big money on a 500 series Nvidia card feel like a bit of a waste in a few weeks time.

As mentioned above, to get BF3 running at Ultra settings at 1080p then you want a top-end card, especially if you want to thrown in some AA.

I'm gonna wait for the new cards, but was just wanting an idea. I was thinking of getting a 2GB 560ti. I was wondering what PSU wattage I would need.

The GTX 560 Ti has a max. power rating of 170W. while the 216 core version of the GTX 260 has a rating of 171W. So I think it's safe to say that your existing PSU will work fine with a GTX 560 Ti.

In fact, if you are using a BeQuiet 630W PSU then you should be fine running any single GPU card up to and including the HD 7970 and GTX 580 (and presumably the new single-GPU flagship Kepler card).

To run BF3 @ 1080p with Ultra settings you'd need Crossfire or SLI to get a solid 60fps. I wouldn’t get a 6950 or even GTX570.

I'd get a 7950 (not the cheapest) and overclock the hell out of it... but wait a few week as the price may drop.

This is good advice, if you want ultra , 1080p and good 60+ frame rates a single 6950 or similar won't be enough. If you go for a combination of medium and high with aa options turned down / off then a 6950 is fine for 60+ fps.
