Well after DICE made its latest games public, and no mention of any new PC related games, do you think that they have simply come to the conclusion that their Battlefield series of games future now rests with the consoles?, i know they have this Battlefield Heroes lined up, but that just seems a half hearted attempt to....well i dont know, what is it for?....all it seems to have done is stop any work on BF3 starting.

TBH the only reason i want to invest in a new PC, is for the unique experience that the Battlefield games brought to the online shooter genre, now that dosent look like being repeated, i have to ask myself whether to finally admit defeat and buy a PS3 or 360 for my online shooter thrills...

I can see the benefits of console land clearly, but i can also see the downsides....mainly being, for me anyways..

1, Control pads for FPS shooters, i loathe them...i dont care what anyone in console land says, compared to KB & Mouse, they suck.:(, slow, inaccurate, and just completely unnatural. For beat em ups and racing games, they are great, but FPS?....just no, especially the Dual Shock on PS3...how does anyone play a FPS with them....they are CRAP.

2, No Mods, stuff like DC on BF1942, and PR on BF2 makes the PC just such damn good value for money, despite the initial extra outlay.

3, Controlled, regulated and charged for online play (360)...its just wrong.

Anyway, does anyone else see any glimmer of hope for BF3???...will DICE surprise us all, or is it a dead franchise on the PC?.

While i don't think it time to abandon the PC i think the chances of a battlefield 3 announcement any time this year or next are very remote, with bf bad company 2 and battlefield 1943 Pacific (yes you read that right) announced only for consoles and with the release of mirrors edge and battlefield heroes still in development i don't think dice have enough man power to make battlefield 3 right now.

Using the same Frostbite™ engine, Battlefield 1943 takes players back to WWII. The game offers endless hours of 24 player multiplayer action over three classic and tropic locations; Wake Island, Guadalcanal and Iwo Jima. Delivering the award-winning through-the-gun and vehicle warfare online experience DICE is best recognized for, Battlefield 1943 will have players battling in ruthless aerial dog fights and intense trench combat. Players can see the game in action at New York Comic Con (Booth #1441) from February 6th-8th.

I am sorry but its not Battlefield without 64 players :(

Site is up and is a confirmed release for xbox360, ps3 and oh no the PC, IMO this is crap, the PC should have its own dedicated BF not some crap console port, EA screw everything up. I'm also sick of this WW2 scenario as well, once I played BF2 there is noway I want to go back sixty years .

WTF!!!!. Battlefiled 1943 with a grand total of, wait for it, 3 maps....DOH!!!

Trivial nonsense....i was right BF3 is dead.

So, whats it to be a PS3 or 360?....:(

wasent the last pc battlefield 2142 a flop?

It wasn't that much of a flop, but if anything it was poor because they kept the same netcode, with all the same hitreg issues and it ended being the equivalent of a decently made mod that you had to pay for. Unlike, say, POE2 or PR which, unlike 2142, are still being updated today.

I still hold hope. BF1943 will suck. Heroes will suck. BC2 will suck. But there might be a BF3 that will rock our socks off. Just maybe.

Good PC games need to be made for the PC ONLY. With the exception of some games such as CoD4, most multiplatform games are just **** poor. To make a good PC game you need to make a PC game, not some noobified POS.

Oops, didn't see this thread.

This is proof the pc is no longer the leading format in battlefield.

Looks like it won't be until the next console's are out that we will get a decent version. :(

Yep, today has been a sad day for me, as far as games are concerned, the PC is a dead format to me now...:(

The Battlefield series was all that was keeping me loyal, knowing that it was the best format for the genre.

Whats the point in playing a poor Bad Company port on the PC?....i may as well play the best version developed on the lead platform....and thats the consoles.

Remember when we could laugh at the console kiddies awful conversions, low res textures, tiny draw distance, crummy screen res?....my how the tables have turned.:(

People like me bugging out of PC gaming has consequences, OCUK has just lost about £700 of business for my next Pc build...

Oh well, the last 12 years have been fun, but as they say...all good things.

Did any of you guys actually read the press release?
BF 1943 isn't a major release, it'll retail for around £15. On the XBox 360 it'll only be available on XBox Live as an Arcade title - not a boxed release.

I'm sorry that you feel that way about PC gaming Cooper. Although I'm with you in being hacked off at EA's treatment of PC gamers, there are a lot of other great games on the platform and lots planned for release this year.

I bought a 360 over the summer, and sold it two months later. Although it was fun, the games were a bit shallow and the graphics were terrible.

wtf? There was a #2?

Only about 6 years ago :)

It was titled "America's Army: Special Forces". Whilst not a complete overhaul, it introduced significant changes to the game.

v.3 is a completely new game. New engine (Unreal 3) and everyone will have to start from scratch; meaning all those annoying buggers with all the posh weapons will start on the same playing field as anyone new to the game.
