all info here

I for 1 will not be paying monthly for this game unless there is a few things sorted first and even then i dont know if id pay it

1. Sort the game out altho i dont crash often if i play Operation firestorm every now and again (10 or so games) i will get a sound error so i have to reboot to get rid of it

2. dlc to be often and free (talking atleast once every month or 2)

3. No hackers (impossible i know) but cod elite has been frozen for pc customers for this very reason

4. VOIP we need it the consoles have it so should we

5. Max price of £5 per month

If they do, i want regular updates and new addons. I suppose they could spend more time to perfect the game if they got more revenue.

They made 1.2 billion they dont need more revenue for new content anyway
they need to sort the game out before charging more moneys

What about all the people who can't justify spending 40 quid on a game, for playing it a couple of hours a week. Its certainly not worth paying for each month in its current state.

I doubt they'd do it. What I can see them doing however, is making it an optional thing. So give rewards and free content to people who pay on a subscription, and charging those who don't for the extra content.

Does that mean that we'd have to pay to login to play a game we've already paid for? if so there's going to be outrage if they implement it.

Here's a subscription model which works:
£3 a month, no upfront cost, game goes free once x total (say £35? £40?) has been passed.

More chance of players getting into a game, staying around, effectively purchasing it.
Some small income from people trying the game, for the sake of a few £, even if they disappear its still money in the bank.

i doubt anything will change accept we'd be paying £5 a month

Sounds about right. Maybe a couple of things will improve but nothing to justify such a cost.

I think this is where EA start showing what they really planned to do with BF3. Milk it for all its worth just like Activision are doing.

I don't mind subscription fee games in principle.

However, for a sub fee I have to feel like I am getting something for my money.

With something like BF3 where there's no persistant world to run they'd really have to put the development time in patching and doign expansions and there'd have to be no nickel & diming us for DLA.

I am halfway to going back to BC2 with the game in it's current condition.

paying £5 to play online ? that's bit of a rip off, why don't they just make an FPS mmo then charge a monthly sub, cod trying to do the same thing too aint they ? if FPS games r going this route i will stop playing them altogether i think.

Ah well I won't pay it. I pay for my internet, I pay for the game I sure as hell won't pay to play a certain game online. Imagine if all online games did this it would cost a fortune just to game online. Least we still have 1942/BF2 and BC2. I just don't play enough online to justify paying per month. For the people who play 24/7 it would be worth it if they got extras, but casual online gamers like me it is just not worth it with the amount of hours I put in. I don't think I have even loaded it in 2 weeks, not because the game is poor or anything, just because I don't game online that much.

I wouldn't be too adverse to a monthly sub, but I want something for it. The hit reg and anti cheat system need sorted, more maps and built in squad/team VOIP would be a good start

That should be fixed with the money we have already paid.

there was no mention of this when i purchased the disc, to now add a monthly cost to play online/or whatever would breach the original purchase arrangement.

see them in small clams for my mney back :D

I know what they have planned, don't get your knickers in a twist, it's not as bad as you think it will be. If you plan to play the game for the foreseeable future and purchase all DLC, you'll get your moneys worth.

As Horse Pop says, if there was some persistant world e.g. an ongoing war where you choose a side and fight proper bloody war then it would maybe be worth some form of monthly sub. Say have this as an extra mode you have to pay monthly for. Otherwise the idea is a complete non starter as far as I'm concerned. A subscription fps game would actually stop me buying it in the first place, even if there was a free month.

Well said.

Something is only worth the price you pay if you use it and get the enjoyment from it.

I've only played 25 hours of bf3 so far but I've had a good laugh with friends and loving the experience so it's paid for itself already. Would I pay for a subscription? Hell yes, providing they kept the updates up and introduced new maps etc..
