Battlefield 3 - odd one out?

Like the look of BF3 but going to wait for it to halve in price (which will probably only be a month or something).

Not keen on having to use Origin either but not going deprive myself of a decent game just for that, I do respect the guy here who says he won't buy it on principal as if everyone did that it might make EA have a rethink but much as I like Steam it is still a monopoly and that's not good for any of us as consumers.

There are a few other sellers like Direct2Drive and GOG but having a big publisher like EA could actually work out well in the future, lets not forget Steam was rubbish and buggy for quite a long time when it first came along, games not unlocking at launch etc.

EA have been a nightmare in the past but they tend to create pretty good PC versions of stuff these days, I've heard the PC Gamer guys saying that the PC version is the best version of Fifa this year, been a long time since anyone could say that.

I hate DRM but I hate decent games not coming out on PC more, if this is the way EA need to go to make the platform viable then we might just have to accept that or we'll all be forced to buy consoles to play the biggest and best new games.

Yeah for DRM purposes. Also any news on whether it will have Steam Cloud? As that is pretty handy. In that case it is useful but BF3 has Origin AND Battlelog so one of them must be superfluous as Battlelog should easily be able to handle any DRM. I think you need to go back and re-read my posts.

"ZO-MY-GOD!!! How can you people be disappointed? Granted I was well dubious at times playing the beta, I can't believe I almost cancelled my order, but so glad I didn't!

The graphics with everything maxxed out are simply stunning (especially in the campaign which I'm finding to be excellent a real suprise considdering the ign and gamespot reviews, some of the missions are incredibly engaging (the first jet fighter mission = the best fps moment of my life so far)).

AND with all the eye candy, which far outshines anything the crytek engine has ever done, I'm sitting solid on 60 fps at 2560 x 1440.

I've been thinking about this more and just been reading the EULA of Origin, really seems overly aggressive and invasive so I've fired off an email to EAs privacy people (http://www.ea.com/1/privacy-contacts) asking them to explain the data collection and processing as it seems to go against a number of the principles as set out in the Data Protection Act as set out on the Information Commissioner's site - http://www.ico.gov.uk/for_organisations/data_protection/the_guide/the_principles.aspx

Wonder what they'll say.
 
it is way better than the beta. I thought id have to upgrade my graphics but it plays well tbh and looks amazing. only thing was installing it took the mic and gave me odd speeds of installing it
 
awesome, great fun game! def not like the beta, you dont get camper galore. And if you played the beta, play metro on conquest, it completely changes the map. In a good way ofcourse!
And for all of those with friends 'claiming' console is the way to go, tell em to p*** off, cause they have auto-aim, and we have skill. nuff said... apart from buy the dam thing

used to have it untill i got it refunded yesterday. sick of publishers pushing game devs to release games that are not done. have you people actually looked at where origin connects to? final release plays nothing like the beta. and the lag, i've played 64v64 and 128v128 man servers around 10 years ago with less lag. EA will never change, same corporate scum who don't have a clue what they are doing.

i actually feel sorry for DICE being connected with these $%^%s, anther great game down the pan because of blood sucking moneymen that think they can treat gamers like second class citizens.

What makes me lol is when people cancel pre order after trying the alpha.

The final release is better than the beta. Iv had no lag what so ever.
 
I might pick it up, not sure pc or ps3 yet. Not too sure how well my pc will run it. My machine can happily run crysis at default settings, so should be ok i guess.
