I'm running a amd 955 at 3.61ghz, 8gbs of 1600 MHz ram and a 6950 1gb was wondering if I crossfire another 6950 or wait for the 7xxx series sell the 6950 and get the 6990 from the 7xxx series that will take less power to run as I have a corsair TX 650W

i would probably wait it out til 7 series is out just as i am initial reports although not official seem to suggest a significant increase in performance

Well there is a 7xxx series that is similar performance to a 6990 but will less power consumption and with my corsair TX 650 I can't power a 6990 :(

I was also considering 3 monitors and I want to play it max settings never dropping below 60 fps
I doubt that's going to happen even with next gen sli/crossfire.

Never dropping below 60fps, with DX11 with tessalation enabled is going to take an awful lot of gpu juice at high resolutions.

Ok what about 1900x1200 resolution a new 27 inch monitor ? :)

We don't know the requirements for BF3 yet so it's impossible to tell. For the PC Alpha I had a 560ti at 1920x1080 and at max settings I was getting between 30-70FPS. Of course it will be optimized for final build, but also take into account that was without all the DX 11 features and full destruction etc.

There has been leaked reports where a lot of people are saying the same thing "don't expect to run this at max". Even with a GTX 580 (what I have now) I wouldn't count on being able to play this game with EVERYTHING at max and keep at least 60FPS, even on a single 1080p~ monitor.

Conclusion - WAIT FOR SPECS.

As above I would not upgrade to any current cards. I would wait for both nvidia and ati to release the new ones and then make a decision.

He doesn't have to wait for the next gen cards, but if he actually wants to find out what hardware he needs to play the game flat out at 60+fps he does need to wait until the game is realeased and/or benchmarks appear.

There really is no point in asking what hardware you will need, you may as well ask what hardware you need to play BF4 at max.

The only information we have is an NVIDIA spokeman saying "2x 580GTX will run the game flat out no problem". Then again, it was NVIDIA that said a 8800GTX would run Crysis flat out no problem, what a joke that was!

From Ati & Intel...owner
Quad core processor.. ATI 5850 above.
Shame really that AMD didnt get the 7 series out sooner, lol
