Hi my first post in here. Had a quick look through and could not see anything on this issue so here goes.

I have had a issue loging on via origin into battlefield 3 on my PC, I have had the following lower left red box:

An error was reported from EA On-line

A pal has other problems, he finds the game locks his PC and he has to reboot after 20 mins game play.

I on-line chatted with their help desk and they say they have technical issues, they sent a link to change my password, asked me to change my password back to the original password and it did not work.

I can play today but I couldn't play last weekend for 48 hours.

Any one else having a flaky service or any pros know how to work around it.

Thanks pod

PS my solution was to play COD4 :D

Not sure, it is a router that has been in play for about 2 year and BF3 worked fine until about 2 weeks ago.

Is it 20 minutes every time without fail, exactly? Or is it kinda random but around 20 minutes if he's lucky?

If its been fine for ages and now started going on the blink it suggests some patches/updates/software could have gone on his system that is causing it.

Failing that he's probably got a problem with hardware. If things are crashing randomly then the best place to start is RAM. Having said that, with memory issues you would see other system instability indications, like browser crashing for example.

The '20 minute kick' has been happening to some for years. Not just with BF3. I have mates who got it in BF2, then L4D, basically most MP games.

Once you have been booted everything is fine. It is something to do with your router but what exactly, I can't remember unfortunately. I think rebooting it and as said above, disabling UPnP might cure it.

Hey thanks very much, I will pass that on to my pal with the 20-minute issue.

I have posted the response from EA below.

At the moment my game is working, my router is a Linskys (the one with the two aerials and looks like a little robot - ahem). If the problem returns I will learn how to look at the router settings again, sorry I am not a Pro, but I will figure it out.

Here is the post, thank you for taking the time to post.

Dear Jpod,

Thank you for contacting Electronic Arts.

I apologise for the inconvenience caused to you. I can understand that you are unable to connect with EA servers. To resolve this issue I would suggest that you try temporarily disabling any firewalls you have running on your system: - • Software firewalls can simply be turned off, usually by right clicking on the icons near your clock and selecting "Close" or "Exit". • Hardware firewalls should be bypassed by going from the computer directly to your modem, skipping any router you may have.

Please try power-cycling your modem. For this, switch off your modem and leave it un-powered for about 2 minutes then re-start the modem, this should power cycle your modem.

I had the same "An error was reported from EA On-line" problem because Origin forced me to change my password and after that i got the error, It seemed to start working after about 36 hours or so and it seems it is due to a problem at EA rather than a local one.
