battlefield 3 xbox screen problem

I've just noticed(think it was after the last update) that bf3 isn't using thecwhole screen of my tv anymore. The top and bottom of the screen has black bars but its not the usual 16:9 problem because these black bars are just a half inch wide. It uses fullscreen when loading the game all the way upto when it says press start. When i press start i get the main menu screen and the black bars. Tried diff hdmi no joy. Other games use up all the screen. Any1 got the same issue. I have a 50inch plasma viera.
 
I'm pretty sure this is normal for BF3, 1280x704 resolution or something silly like that. It's a bit of a pain, apparently for performance issues.
 
Do you have 16:9 overscan on your tv? On my tv if I set the screen to 16:9 the bars disappear.

I don't recall having black bars at the bottom I could be wrong. Have you set the settings on the dashboard to 50"?
