Was going to download this for xmas for present , However there seems to be serious issues with the privacy policy , which seems to suggest Origin have full access to your PC and can sell all the information to interested partys . more looser than anything else i have seen which restricts this to important files related to the running of the game . Importantly there association with Walt disney and other music and film companys . Its Making me think that this could destroy the PC game market , and will have to dumb down the gaming experience to the safety of xbox or PS3 ,and end the need for most of us who want high end hardware to run new top end games . Im interested to know where most stand and am i just being a bit over paranoid , to help me make the decision wherether to resort to getting pc or xbox versions for my purchase . thanks all .

There has been a lot of frothing and gnashing over Origin. Last thing I remember hearing was that the spyware claims were misinformed: the guy who used a piece of software to check what Origin was up to didn't use it properly and got the wrong end of the stick.

As for the EULA stating that EA can do this/that/other, it's a pretty bog standard EULA. If you open up the EULA for iTunes it'll say something similar.

Origin is irritating and I can't see the need for it once you've downloaded and installed the game, but it doesn't bother my as spyware. There's a "patch" out which lets you run BF3 without Origin which DiCE have said won't get anyone banned if that'll sooth your mind.

Cheers art so there is a way to play multiplayer and the walkthrough game without the need to have origin enabled ,
Im not that computer savvy but im guessing "Path" you mean configuring the properties of the shortcut ? direct to a dice server . Perhaps making exceptions also in my kaspersky security to restrict there access is an option if possible . The Path idea sounds more appealing though . cheers

You'll need to download Origin and use it to install BF3 at first. After that, a group called razor1911 created something that'll let you play BF3 without having to load Origin again. Google about for it, you'll find it.

EA haven't commented on it at all so don't take it as an official thing, but DiCE seem to think it's safe enough even if they don't support it.

Cheers iv been researching this game and its issues off and on all day , and come to the conclusion thats its just not worth the hassle , Iv got origin installed and am going to uninstall it now . thing is it realises iv got BFBC2 and couple of other games , I hope it dosent affect them an intergrated itself into the games , they were disk versions . Im going to do as you said and google that server . As it stands at the moment EA have just lost £30-40 as im not happy to download a game me and my son were dying to play , and im not sure about dumbing it down to xbox version . I suppose these are dark days with outdated consoles and restrictive PC issues . Got me thinking the way forward is to canibalise the PC , and build a PC console ie just the hardware for gaming , and move all my other personnel stuff to a machine which can sit side by side . Thanks .
