I've decided to start a new thread since I'm hogging the deals thread, but I bought this game yesterday and I'm having major problems with it! It took me an age to finally get the game to load up multiplayer as it kept saying there was no connection, then the screen was black except for the HUD stuff....I decided to drop the resolution loads and put all settings to low and that seemed to get my screen normal again, except that I'm getting really low fps, around 20 at a guess, and this is on a laptop, but with a quad core, 4GB RAM and a ATI HD4750.....And I tried bumping the settings back to medium again and the screen went black again, please help!

What OS?

I bought it yesterday and had a couple of issues but not like that, the graphics broke up, don't really know how to describe it, bits of see through scenery flashing all over the screen, closing then reopening the game fixed that, then it wouldn't connect to the server, after closing the game I found the firewall asking if it should block it or not, so that fixed that issue!

Also, are you using the latest video drivers?

I'm on Windows 7, and I'm not sure if I have the latest drivers, I thought Windows would up date itself anyway? I don't have a problem with any other games running slow, can run Bioshock 1 perfectly on high settings and the like, so I don't really see why a game which is 3 years old would run so badly....Also don't think the black screen would be a sign of my graphics card not being good enough as why would it show up the HUD stuff etc.?

EDIT-Just got the latest drivers downloaded and its still having the same problem, can't join servers and game just crashes when single player starts...

EDIT 2-I've just install the latest drivers and before the single player would crash just after the initial writing ended, and it brings me back to the start screen even earlier then that :/ I've never had so much frustration with a game!

Try not to go single player... just enable multiplayer, pick "Heavy Metal" map with low (<50) ping and you are gone for anybody in next few months ;-)

go to my documents then in to the bfbc2 folder then settings.ini

look for the line dxversion=auto and change it to dxversion=9

that should cure the black screen issues and possibly the fps problem
