As there doesn't seem to be any kind of decent user guide/manual for BFBC2 I thought I would post some questions here. I'm sure you guys have the answers!

1. When I press "Q" to spot or communicate I never see any sort of menu appear (as it used to do in BF2). Is this normal? Does it alter the message you send depending on the context in which you press Q? (Spotting does work btw).

2. How do I know how much health I have? Is there a gauge on the HUD somewhere?

3. I'd like to use VOIP and I have a mouse button bound to "Push to talk" but when I press it I get no indication that it's transmitting anything. Also I haven't heard any VOIP from any other players yet. Is this normal? (I do have VOIP enabled in the settings).

4. Is there any way to get proper 5.1 sound working with Creative X-Fi? It doesn't seem to use my centre speaker. (I have tried "Home Cinema" and "War tapes" plus Windows knows I have 5.1 speakers).

5. How do I deploy health/ammo packs? I've only ever seen a pack in my weapon list once.

6. How do I stay alive for more than 2 minutes? ;)

Thanks.

Hi,m good game but does take a little while to get to grips with (starter guns can seem a bit weak).

1. Pressing Q depends on what you are looking at. It will spot any enemy making them visible to your team for a few seconds, or it will ask a medic for heal, assault for ammo etc. You can also press Q while targetting an objective to set an order to attack/defend.

2. There is no health meter

3. Haven't used it myself, but I believe it works for your squad only (if you have joined one, which you should)

4. Not sure, sorry, only cheapo 2.1 here

5. You have to unlock them first with the relevant kit, then select using mouse wheel or button 4 and drop em.

6. Not sure but if I find out I will let you know :D

Best way to get some points and unlocks when you are just starting is to pick up kits of any fallen friends or enemies as they are likely to have medic/ammo boxes and probably better weapons too.
Its also useful to go into an empty server to get a feel for the maps and practice the vehicles.
Doesn't seem to be much VOIP use in the game.
When you are injured you'll start to see red at the edges of the screen creeping in as you get more damage, if theres any med boxes close go over to them or drop a box yourself if able.
If you are being shot at but can't place the source try to get to cover first and then return fire.
Try to spawn on any squad members especially if there are a couple for strength in numbers and hang slightly back to pick off some injured by squad members.
It can be hard going till you get to know the maps and get some decent weapon upgrades but don't be tempted to go sniper as the points score is usually quite poor compared to assault until you know what your doing.

Unless they've changed anything, probably the quickest way to earn points is to play the medic class since you'll get points from ressurecting dead players/healing.

Alternatively, play any class you like but steal a medic kit off a dead player - you'll earn points for your current class even though you're using a medic kit :)

One tip- play with less people ie 4v4 or something to start with. It lets you get settled and learn the game- I got a bit overwhelmed and frustrated when more people were around because of the constant dying due to not knowing maps etc.

Yes you can heal your self and this is the second best thing about the class, the first being the M60 :P

Thanks for all the tips guys. After a few hours play I'm getting to grips with it.

Just wish the VOIP worked. I play a fair bit of TF2 and voice comms is crucial for getting good teamwork going.

it does work, it just gives no indication that you're transmitting :p

that and 90% of idiots don't even have a mic or know what button it is.

Oh! Helpful!!

I've haven't heard anyone use VOIP yet, and no-one responds when I say something like "hi, can you hear me, is my mic working?". :(

(And yes, my mic does work. ;))
