Hi All,

Battlefield Heroes beta is now unlocked. Is it worth playing?

It looks very much like TF2, is this fair? It seems to be a browser game like Quake Live which is good for work lunchtimes.

Gave the closed BETA a shot. Once I eventually got it running, I was not very impressed. It just felt like a soulless hodge-podge of TF2 in the Battlefield template.
 
Isn't it fully released, not open beta?

I gave the first wave of the closed beta a whirl, gave up after a couple days.

I'll give it another go. Unemployment FTL.

Edit: Just saw this gem in the FAQ:

QUESTION
I took off all my Hero's clothes. But when I enter the game, I'm fully clothed again. What's the deal?

ANSWER
Even if you strip off all of your Hero's clothing, your character will, by default, have the items applied to his empty slots when he enters the game.
If you want to play the game without a shirt, or in your underwear, you will need to purchase the Naked Chest and/or Naked Legs items from the Store and equip them in the appropriate slot.

Classic EA, pay for the luxury to not wear the items you paid to wear.

Its nothing like TF2 and I really wish people would stop comparing them purely because they are "cartoony".

It closest comparison is actually something like Worms 3d, but worse.
 
ive been trying to play it for a few months now but everytime i log in i get Error 1002, you would have thought Dice would have that fixed by now, loads of people getting that error and cant play
 
Just gave it a go and it doesn't seem that bad, at least for a free game. Probably won't spend much time on it though!
Best thing about it is the theme song :P
 
Never did get it to work. There was always some problem with it when i tried to launch that i just gave up in the end, although it doesn't sound like i'm missing much.
 
Oh well, wasn't too impressed but then I am bad at most on line games.

I prefered Quake Live on the free online game front.
 
how do i play this? :confused:
i've got an account created a solider but when i click "play now" the splash screen comes up, loads and then opens another tab in the browser of the bf heroes home page

EDIT: and i'm using internet explorer

Are you logged on to the beta website? and not just in the beta site but have entered your email and password at the top right?


I tried this game myself in closed beta, played for about a week then stopped, its nothing special. 3 maps (proberly 4 or more now) yet the only map anyone cared about was victory village. It's repetative, and slightly buggy in places. And the main downside when i played, every server i joined always had a cheater on using aimbot or people abusing the stats system by working with the enemy to take turns capturing. The cheater never get punished, and there is no anti-cheat system in place.
