Battlefield question

Ok so I was a call of duty muppet for ages until I discovered Bad Company 2 last year. What I'm basically wondering is, is there a set storyline / timeline to all the series? IE Is Bad Company 2 a sequal / replacement to the last Battlefield game, or is it side by side or what? I know the 194* ones are obv WW2, but I've heard from a mate who played BC2 sp that theres stupid monsters or whatever. Is this like C&C where theres 2 different timelines / universes for the games, or is it all one world?

So those are seperate series? As what, alternate timelines / alternate universes, or just simply same world different stories?

Ah right gotcha. So what was the last one before BC2? 2142? 1943? Are any of them as good for mp as BC2 or for gfx? Just curious if I should further explore the series or stick to BC2 and get Vietnam

Ok so I'll stick to BC2 for now I think lol. I'm still kinda enjoying the team aspect of it. If vietnam comes out in the EA sale this week I might snap it up.
Did have my own BC2 server for a month when I was more in to it. Was full most nights. Good times
