Battlefield2 post 1.3

It basically didn't let me install the patch many moons ago and because of that I've missed a lot of the 1.3 banter. Anyway finally got it working and have a few problems I never had before.

Mainly performance problems. The game seems very 'jerky', It looks like my fps is up and down, regardless of what res/graphics settings I run the game at. Also every few minutes I will loose the connection for a few seconds. I don't have the ports for BF2 open on my router but this was never a problem pre 1.3 patch.

A few bits of info. I have a AMD3200+ Winchester and a Nvidia 6800GT also have 1GB GeiL ddr400. I didn't have any performance problems before this patch. None what so ever. I don't have the latest drivers for my Nvidia but the ones I do have worked before and so should now really. Plus I'm sure I read the latest Nvidia drivers were poor anyway.

Has anyone else run into these two problems and how did you fix them?

Or should I just wait for the 1.4 patch before dabling in BF2 again?

i dont seem to have graphic problems, just crashing ect..

bf2 would be ten times the game if it wasnt so poorly coded and so damn hardware dependant and slow

Dumb down the sound settings a bit too, it can have the effect you are getting. Also give your hard drive a defragging.

Sound is set to software I think since I don't have a soundcard or anything. Computer was recently defragged and I don't really use this hard drive for storage I have seperate ones. This hard drive is a 10,000RPM raptor and just has my OS essential programs and like 3 games installed.

I'll look into the sound thing though thanks.

Its the connection problem thats bugging me the most.

That can just be the 1.3 patch, we've all had problems with connections since 1.3 on public servers.

patch 1.3 for some ruined the game, it caused more problems than solutions.
the beta 1.4 has improved the game and comes with the free map road to jalalabad which is real good fun.
i think on some forums they mentioned within the first two weeks of sept the 1.4 patch will be released *dont quote me on that*

ctd's and connection problems are sooo annoying especially if your on a good game high pts and the server resests :mad:

thus you lose them

Are you playing on a wireless connection? That always gives me connection problems.

I think the lack of a soundcard could be a major factor. Your CPU needs all the power it can get for BF2.
Also have you cleared your cache files since messing with your video options in BF2. BF2 does not like multiple shader files.

Dude tell me about it. I went on last night and lucked onto a fantastic team. There was me commanding my troops them all following orders and the game going fantastic. I take a Silver and all is well as we settle into our 2nd round on Kubra. We had cained them when we was Yanks and now it was easy street as MEC.
I plots up in my usual Kubra command spot and settles in for some more pwnage. My team all confident just steam off and set up an early front holding it well. The usual tunnel invader was dealt with, no orders needed, just spot them and they get slaughetered.
Then Freeze frame and the odvious disconnection. :mad:

Without doubt it cost me a victory a top 3 award if not Gold and the chance to get addys of my Excellent team members.
I spent a good ten minutes trying to find that server again, could i, **** no.

u checked the folder in the my documents/bf2 , doesnt it hold the server names u've recently attached to ?

majik, sound card may make a difference but i've heard a few peopel having performance probs since 1.3
