Hi.

I have been looking into Reservoirs and have seen the Swiftech Res to be one of the more popular.

I was thinking a 5.25" Bay Res would be a lot easier to mount obviously and to fill.

Are there any Pros & Cons to Bay Res's? Also how would a Dual Bay Res be better than a Single Bay Res?

The only point I would make out is how you mount your current 5.25 devices, on my case P160 it use mounts that you attach to the drive and then slide in. However my new XPSC Bay Res is not compatible, so I had to just lay it on the bottom run and kinda wedge it in place.

Just my 2 cents, but I have had another bay res before on another old Antec case and it worked fine, its just the screw mountings for the XSPC ones are dead middle so it just doesn't work for my P160.

No particular pros or cons compared to a normal res. Guess the pro's are bigger than some of the cheaper res's,easier to fill and looks good at the front of the case ;)

Downsides i suppose is that it uses a bay (not a problem in most cases anyway) and like above can not always be mounted

Above-don't you get air in your loop or find it hard to bleed?res should go high as possible.

Ah ok, thanks for that. It seems a bay res would be better as i could put it in the top 5.25" drive bay so it would be high.

Are there advantages/dissadvantages over using a dual bay res to a single bay res

there will be a marginal advantage in that youll have more liquid in a dual bay so you may see an improvement in temps but its only marginal

I would def watch out to see if a dual fits in the bays of your case. I have a single XSPC bay res and its fine for me.

Just remember to leave some extra length in the tubing to and from the res so you can pull it out to fill! I know some people who have pushed it in and cut their tubing to size and when they finished, realised that they can't fill tit because it wont pull out the front.

Good advice, this is very important.

Bay res' are great though, not only do they look cool but they're very practical.

Agree, just need to fit mine now...

and do make sure you do cut extra tubing, i didn't and now have no idea how im going to bleed my systemt to put mine in...

I had exactly the same reasoning and got a bay res but found it just made too much noise. Since replaced with a Swiftech MCRES which is superb - bleeds air out in no time and is totally silent.

Dual bay rez get my vote (dangerden)! have tried a single and a dual. I found the single didn't look as good and also was harder to bleed the air from and made more noise as the pump had less water to move.

I have a dual in my P182, I cant screw mine in place as the mounting system in the case wont have it, so I just let in stay there, seems OK.
