I got it yesterday and I really do not have the foggiest what is happening half of the time! It's just random cut scenes that make little sense followed by you killing a load of things!

Pretty much. You can skip the cutscenes by holding a select or start, forget which one, and one of the shoulder buttons. It's the quality of the killing things that sets Bayonetta way up high over all the other games of this type. Ninja Gaiden, DMC and God of War have nothing on it :)

Well, on the normal (training) difficulty. Once you unlock the harder settings and get into the game proper you do have to understand the fighting system.

Keep plowing away at this... At first I was playing just mashing the buttons.. but once I understood that certain button patterns resulted in certain movesets I found the game to be much more rewarding!

By the time you have finished the game on Infinite Climax you will have the following -

A. Multiple Blisters
B. A Headache
C. An overwhelming feeling of achievement.

According to True Achievements only 13% of gamers have the Legendary Dark Witch achievement/Trophy..

Its worth it... keep going :)

I do actually like the game I just wish I knew what the hell is going on! I've just killed a big flying thing with 2 dragon heads and a human face that was upside down, which I remember was saying sorry to me earlier in the game.
Whoever came up with this game must have done some serious amount of drugs!

You have to listen/watch the cut scenes to understand whats going on. Basically some war breaks out millenia ago between witches and druids or something like that and now in the modern day you play as bayonetta who remembers what happens by fighting loads of big baddies as the levels progess. The cut scenes fill you in fully by the end of the game.

The fighting is like devil may cry only more flexible/easy as you can dodge after every attack and there are way more combos to use and lots of powers, attacks, blocks and special moves to unlock and use as you go along.

bayonetta is without a doubt one of the best games iv ever played...simply awesome especially later on with all the space harrier, outrun references etc.

as for the story? to me it made sense, its really not hard to follow 2 waring factions fought each other and now years later its still going on just on a smaller scale. its a story that becomes clearer the more you play, it doesnt just give you it all on a plate.

anyway...keep on playing and enjoy. your be a fool to not complete this game just bc your confused.

I'm just working towards this :) I've heard quite a few people are put off by this game simply by a genre they don't usually play. This is easily my game of the year so far, never have I replayed a game to the extent as I have with this.

Has anyone managed to do Angel Slayer yet? I get through to level 30 and my luck runs out!

I done it by going through all them in a day... hard but you'll get there :)

These guides may help :D

One of my fave games of the year :D

The combat is awesome and really deep if you get to harder difficulty levels, and the story really clicks together at the end.

Keep with it.

Any game where you drive a motorbike along the side of a rocket as it's flying into space gets a thumbs up in my books.

Epic game and the storyline does, in a strange way, make sense by the end.

I got this on rental a few days ago and I just don't know if it's for me.

I love the fighting system but the story really does seem hard to follow. I'm not that far in though, maybe I should just stick with it.

I have this impression of the game though - Kill things and button bash all the way through, but in different settings.

Yep, the fighting system is superb in this game, everything else is pretty terrible though.
