Hello all,

I don't really post in here, but wanted to keep a progress diary nonetheless. :)

Will update with some progress pics etc later. I recognise that I am by no means overweight and I am not looking to become hench ;) but the motivation that I have is so that I can fit in my wedding dress and I have 357 days to do this!

Losing weight isn't the focus but sustaining a lean and in proportion figure is. I bought my dress in August last year and have stopped trying it on because I know it probably wouldn't not fit as well as I would like... if at all! :/

Anyway, the first hurdle I have come across is that I have started a new job and therefore I need a new gym.

The options are: GymBox (crazy, in your face and pretty mental) or Virgin Active (pretty vanilla, nothing different but has a pool and I can visit any club).

I need to make a decision by tomorrow as I want to get back into the routine of going to the gym.

Dietwise, I am pretty much governed by FF so apart from some little tweaks i.e. cut down on sweet treats and eating out :( all is good there.

GymBox £82/month for 6 months - no pool, more interesting classes
Virgin Active £115/month for 12 months - pool and slightly more convenient

Argh. Will have to weigh up the pros and cons when I get home tonight.

The Bank club is a Classic club... so ok I don't have access to one of them. One that I'd probably never go to!

Hmm if she works in the city that's near me. There's plenty of fitness first about and those are a lot more reasonably priced, and surely there's corporate discount available??

That is true, but I will be honest with you - I won't go if its not convenient for me. If the club isn't on the way home then I won't go - simples! I've been a member of Nuffield at Cannon st for years but since I moved jobs in Feb I haven't been since, purely because its too much of an effort to go to. E.g. I hit the train home before getting to the gym.

It's extremely stupid I know and annoying, but there's no point me paying for a club that I won't go to.

I think I will give GymBox 6 months and see how it goes.

I have a couple of free passes for Nuffield and Virgin Active should I want to swim! :p

Does this mean BB is allowed in the gym rats group?!

Ha! Nah.. don't need your boys club! :o

Currently running once a week about 3/4 miles which is rubbish.

Hoping to step it up a bit to twice in the week as well as add on some strength stuff.... weights :p

I like doing classes. GymBox has pole classes too which I've enjoyed before.

Very unfit... considering this time last year I had just completed the Marathon!

I joined GymBox and am booked onto Rave and Pole class this evening.

Over a year since being on a pole so we will see how it goes! :D

Interesting article in The Metro today about protein shakes for women... the article recommends 1g of protein per 1kg of weight... hmm so 65g (will weigh myself later although I never use it as a basis for weightloss) a day.

Will take some photos tonight.

Need to think this log through... I think it will be a mixture of weekly achievements, diet log and articles e.g. the above. So a bit different to the ones you gymrats have.

Hmmm! :p

I'm going to start off with classes at the moment and then in a couple of weeks get a bit more of a routine going.

Last night I went to a class called Rave.

It is basically aerobics on those mini trampolines... and actuality good for your core and stability as you have to focus on not falling off.

You get glowsticks and the music is

Also did some running and shoulder work in prep for the Pole class, which I found frustrating as I need to re-visit it when I am stronger and leaner and they use stage poles which are not connected to the ceiling... never used them before.
