BBC Climate Change workunit

Never mind that, it's the 10 million CPU seconds that's the scary part.

What's even scarier is if you work out how much slacking happened while that unit was running (note - I may have been running other projects at the time).

Congratulations, that makes me the slowest.
Pete has 2 @ 8.5 million on an AMD 64x2 4400 and I have 2 @ 11 million
on Xeon 2.8 running @ 3.21

I cheated and set the client to max 1 CPU. If I hadn't have done that, I'd be here until Christmas.

The worrying thing is that I have another on the laptop, downloaded same date, but only 30% done. BOINC already thinks I'm not going to finish it, and it's probably right (I can only have the laptop switched on while I'm in the office - stinking thieves).

One more cruncher returning to the fold then. :)

Hi there. Just wanted to add my congratulations to the finishing of a full model run. It's a major undertaking to start and finish a 160 year model. Great stuff. Can we tempt you to do it all again? I have just uploaded the final data files for my 3rd completed model, done on my kids computer. AMD 3700+ 2Gb RAM 10% overclock with Asus AI Booster. Not had time for proper overclocking yet! The wife has banned me from starting another one on their computer, until I sort the noise out, and fit the Zalman Reservator that I've bought off Ebay. Had to go for noise reduction rather than max cooling on their PC. Maybe we could get a competion going to see who could complete a full model the quickest on any particular machine. It would be very interesting to know just how quickly one of these huge models could be run? When I've got some time, I'm hoping to raise the speed of my PC's somewhat by overclocking, but I've got to sort the cooling out first, before I hit this big time.

Anyway. Well done again on a model milestone.

Cheers Pete.

PS sorry this is a little delayed. I've been working away from home for the last week.
