Almost haha, It's embarrassing and cringe worthy. Unfortunately like so many people and so many attitudes in this country it's not the only thing that is clung too.

Anyway; meh, there were only 16 teams in the competition too. As good as that team was, and as wonderful as it was. It was a long time ago, and considering how quickly things change in football (see Sky on anything) it's ancient history.

Both the best and worst thing to happen to English football was winning that World Cup.

To be fair the world cup is something worth celebrating, and with no major honours since it is perhaps no great surprise that it remains lauded after all this time.

I have the Sky Sports app and they have the count down to the WC with a special gues every day and tell them who their hero was and what was their favourite WC moment. Had to stop watching because more than half of it was about 66 and Bobby Moore. It was like a broken record stuck on repeat.

Anyone else watching the BBC's look back at the world cups? It is on atm on BBC2, 1962 I think.

The 1954 one was good....ah, the good old days where the players used to give each other flowers before the game and the referees wore suits

I'm sat watching Germany v England from ITalia 90 via the bbc. I was 2 at the time so I want to see the whole match

Quite why I'll put myself through an england game against germany when I know we are going to lose on penalties is another matter...
