BBC Iplayer on your PS3

You have to go to that address on your ps3 browser and with a bit of zooming, it goes to full screen. Better than nothing I suppose.

if you use any device to receive television programmes as they're being shown on TV, the law requires you to be covered by a TV Licence.

Unless Nintendo secure a deal with the BBC for an actual iPlayer channel, I can see a version working on the PS3 eventually.

How does that matter surely if sony can get flash working properly it will just work anyway on the ps3.

From the many threads in the GD about the license it would seem if the tv is capable of picking up tv signals it must have a license. Having said that they way they try and threaten you into buying one always hardens me not to want to buy one.

I.E. I could own a 32" TV but use it for nothing but gaming or watching DVDs, with no connection to a satellite or aerial.

There's not an actual iPlayer channel, and I wasn't aware that the deal between BBC and Nintendo was exclusive...

the channel hasnt been released yet but there is a channel coming. They have made a deal too. I dont know if its exclusive but its real collaboration not just the ability to view it in the browser.

The video download and streaming service that lets people catch up with BBC programmes will soon be a channel on the hugely popular game console.

Early versions of the service will be available from 9 April but more polished software will be released as the service is developed.

What I was getting at with my original post was that the deal doesn't appear to be an exclusive, more so that they've developed a version that's workable on the Wii. There's nothing yet to suggest a channel going by that link, just them improving on the version that's now available for the Wii. My point was that if they've done it for the Wii, why not PS3 at some point unless Nintendo tie down an exclusive channel. (Of course, as you've said, it might be Sony that sort Flash functionality).

Also it does sound like they are developing from the next line "Early versions of the service will be available from 9 April but more polished software will be released as the service is developed".

So what if its not exclusive? i dont get why that matters? Iplayer is perfectly suited for wii res. The channel will be a great addition to the droves of casual gamers system on there crt's. For people like us im sure the pc version will be all we will use most the time. All the good stuff is from America anyway.
