Any way to make BBC iplayer work off the iphone's 3G connection?

And if not, any news on if this will be possible some time down the line?

I've read there will be a 3G version for the N96, so hoping the iphone will get similar.

Any time I go to use it I get a message saying that it needs a WIFI connection. Are you sure it works off your 3G connection?

It is really good on the Phone/Touch - perfect use of the nice screen.

How does the website know you're on 3G, anyway? Does Safari change its user agent string while using 3G, or do BBC just know O2's IP ranges?

I just don't understand why O2 block the iplayer, yet they allow youtube. Surely there's not much difference in bandwidth usage?

YouTube is a built in Apple application.. Perhaps O2 would have blocked it if they could have gotten away with it.

More detail - iPod Touch latest software (2.1 is it?). But I have resolved it

- if you go to iPlayer - radio now works (it din't before I did the £6 iTouch upgrade

- if I try to listen to a BBC radio programme on "listen again" from the R4 or BBC7 web page directly it doesn't work - needs flash /mediaplayer....

SO iPlayer does now work - thanks

Mel
