BBC News quizzes with Firefox

Just recently I've noticed that whenever I click on a quiz on the BBC News site and click the Submit button to see the results I get an error page.

For example clicking any of the options on the quiz on http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/magazine/default.stm would get me the result of a page loading up telling me that http://newsvote.bbc.co.uk/VoteCounter/dynamic_vote=ON#vote_6161159 cannot be found. I've just tried the same quiz in IE7 and it works fine. So any ideas what is wrong with FF? Is is an option that I've disabled and need to re-enable.

I have also just created a new profile in FF and the same happens with that so from that I assume it is an FF issue and not my profile.

It works for me (using today's Minefield build), which version are you using (though it shouldn't be important)?

Just the bog standard FF2.0 release as far as the About Mozilla Firefox window tells me. The thing is I didn't have a problem with the BBC News site before I had to reinstall Windows a few weeks ago.

Hrm...if I go to the URL directly, I get the BBC's 404 "Page not found". If I click the first link, and submit the form, everything's fine.
It's the same with IE(6).

Anyone else got this problem? I've just cleared the cache in FF and that did nothing. I've already tried another FF profile so it can't be my profile?

I might try Opera out and see if that works. IE7 does so I assume Opera will as well. Not sure what I would gain from knowing whether Opera works or not apart from consolidating the fact that something is up with FF.

Hmm now that is interesting. My prediction was that Opera would work but it didn't. So know I suppose the question is what do Firefox 2 and Opera 9.02 have in common with each other BUT not with IE7?

I've just tried http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/programmes/6161425.stm and that worked for me. So perhaps quizzes that have their own page work yet quizzes that are part of a mix page don't?

Apologies for the triple post but I've just discovered something interesting. The URL that IE7 goes to when I click the submit button is different to that Firefox goes to. And when I copy the IE7 URL into Firefox, well lo and behold Firefox loads up the page with the bars showing voting records for each option.

I copied the /1/hi/magazine/default.stm? from the IE7 URL over the /VoteCounter/ part of the Firefox URL. Firefox then accepted this URL and it works fine. So now I'm still confused. Why are Firefox and Opera chasing an incorrect URL?
