And from the terms and conditions...

3. By submitting your photograph to the BBC or to the ONE Show group on the Flickr website you agree to grant the BBC free of charge the right to publish and the right to licence others to show the photograph on television, publish the photograph online and in all other media as required.

14. If your photograph features any person or people, they should be aware they were being photographed and permission should be obtained from all involved (or their parents/guardians if under 16) for their photograph to be submitted in a competition. If it is clear that the people are not aware of their picture being taken or are embarrassed in any way in any entry we receive, the BBC reserves the right to disqualify the entry.

aint posting anything on there then... most of my shot's are about people... and no-one get's the right's for free either...

I honestly don't mind the BBC using my images for free, so long as people enjoy them then I'm happy! But it isn't like I could make money from them by marketing them myself anyway so it is no loss for me!

it's not only the BBC doing this a lot of newspapers and magazines are getting their readers to send in images without making it very clear that they are giving up their claims to copywrite whilst doing so

This has been happening for years so it's not like it's something new and Pro photos that show identifiable people have always required a signed model release form.
