BBM 8520

Hi guys,

Just purchased a BB 8520 on Tmobile. I get 6 months free internet but the sales rep told me to call T-Mobile and discuss with them to see what the best plan would be.

However, I seem to be having trouble setting up BBM. I have put in my contacts BBM Pins and they said they didn't recieve anything saying I added them. I gave them my BBM Pin, they added me and I didn't recieve anything saying they added me either.

Some how do I actually have to setup the BBM Service before hand?

Are you sure you have blackberry internet service enabled on your device??...you can check by going going into your menu and clicking on manage connections...from there click on services status...in there under Blackberry Internet service it should say connected: mobile network.

If it isnt then you need to ring up your network and get them to enable it onto your device. Once its enabled then BBM should just work although it could take some time for your contacts to filter through.

It says 'Not Connected'. Will give T-mobile a ring now.

You have to phone T-Mobile to register anyway. After that (as I'm sure they'll tell you), you have to text "6 MONTH FREE BB" to 441 to get it activated. You will have to get them to turn on BIS as well.

Got it sorted now cheers guys, got a question though - Is the BBM on the 8520 different than the one on the 9700? Just wondering because my mates is different and he said I was using an older version of BBM, I downloaded the newest version but it didn't make any difference.

Yes. You need to update the OS to 5.0 which it might not come with.

Depends on what OS your running on your device...the 9700 runs OS5 which has the new updated version of BBM but Blackberry have updated it recently again.

To check what OS your running...go into options and then into status...scroll down and you will see what OS it is running...if its running 4.6 then you will need to update your OS to OS 5.
