BC2 single player problem ?

Got this problem on the Crack the Sky mission in BC2 SP.

Where it tells me i have no ammo for any of my guns even though theres a crate at the start.

It also tells me "press E to use" for the mounted machine guns but pressing E does nothing.

Therefore I have to run round knifing people, and always die.

Ideas ?

Check your "E" button is assigned correctly? not got too far into the SP yet, only had little dabbles when the MP goes offline.

Cleared it with a reset, but running into more and more problems as the game progresses.
