I always wondered why they persist with what is clearly a massively inferior tournament. Presumably if the BBC pulled out it would fold. Meanwhile over at ally pally they are shooting nine darters and averaging 110!
The only thing worse is watching the munter women throwing the arrows. Excluding that russian one ofc.
I had to turn my telly off in disgust earlier. I'm sure the match I was watching had both players with a 3 dart average less than 60. I don't have SKY so I'm used to watching BDO darts but even I have to draw the line somewhere.
I actually stopped watched a prelim game earlier because the standard was not only 'a bit' below PDC but truly appalling. Averages of 71? I've seen higher in county games regularly.
Barry Hearn offered to buyout the BDO several years ago for £1m whch Olly Croft refused. Looking at the BDO now I bet Hearn is happy didn't waste his cash.
I was watching it earlier, both players threw 9 darts each and had only scored 70 and 59, I was like wtf is this
The camera moves around too much, always drifts off the players and randomly looks elsewhere, and the other night the commentators were talking about someone cooking pies??
In 1999 my Dad got to the quarterfinals of the world match play, he lost to a certain Wayne Jones. Watching the BDO now is depressing knowing how good it used to be.

Ha. Watched a match yesterday and I swear every leg went down to double 1. Was like when me and my mate play drunk in the pub, and we can't play at all.
Guess most of the posters in this thread are the type that consider anything but the highest echelon of sport not worth watching. If you like darts, you'll still get to watch some fantastic matches. If you're a snob, **** off and watch something else
