Probably already said, But just stick with unlocking it to 3 cores, and increasing the clock speed, than with 4 cores at a lower clock speed.
Much more stable.

Depends what he does, if it utilizes all 4 cores it would be better to run lower clock 4 cores than higher 3 cores.

Also it might be worth lowering clock a bit for higher HT/NB/RAM frequencies.

Either way, this at even 3.2 or 3.4 has enough power to play just anything up to date without problems...
