Hi, just moved over to 'be' from plusnet and all seems good so far. But im trying to obtain a new ip (as i have dynamic not static) and before all i needed to do was restart my modem/router (Netgear DG834 v2) and i got a new ip address from the ISP.

With 'be' the settings of the netgear are different mainly because of the absence of a username and password, with the router getting the ip straight from the ISP. But everytime i reboot the router i get the same ip address. Surely as im on a dynamic ip service, this should change after a reboot?

Any ideas how i can do it, or is it to do with 'be' and not the router ?

Cheers

You need to wait for the DHCP lease to expire (and I have no idea what the lease length is, sorry). Rebooting the router isn't guaranteed to ever get you a new IP, the same say rebooting your PC on your home network doesn't always get you a new IP.

DHCP lease is 40 mins, but after that my ip still doesn't change. Also in the status screen of the router ive clicked 'release' and 'renew' but the router just logs in with the same setings.

Does this then mean that i have a static ip ???

Why would you want a new IP though? Sounds dodgy :p

rapidshare :D:D:D

Don't want to subscribe to download off it, plus with plusnet if i reset the router i got a new ip straight away so could download lots.

i think il contact be and enquire.
