Hi, I'm on BE Pro and am having some issues hosting games of COD4 on Live.
Basically its fine all other times but as soon as I'm host the connection stutters in game and sometimes freezes for up to 5 seconds giving everyone else in the game connection errors.

I'm currently using the provided BEBox with the NAT open, but I also have an unused Netgear DG834G, would this be any better?
And if so is there a website with all the relevant info that will tell me how to connect to BE with it.

Also any help on opening the relevant ports and setting up a static IP on the BEBox or Netgear would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Is it the v4 Dg834G? If not, don't bother.

If it is, it should be a lot better. Make sure you get the DGTeam firmware for it though.

In that case don't bother - it's got a Texas Instruments modem chipset, which isn't great for ADSL2+.

If you can get the v4 or alternatively buy a cheap sky-branded DG834GT from an auction site (and reflash it with the DGTeam firmware) then you'll have a very cheap and very good replacement for the speedtouch/thompson rubbish router.

Alternatively if you have the cash you can get an AM200 modem and a Linksys WRT54GL and run the Tomato firmware. More powerful (though only any point if you need the extra features of Tomato) but more expensive.

You could try switching on UPnP on your router, which will allow the xbox to automatically open all ports it requires.

I'll have a look into whats been suggested.

If its any help I'm currently using a THOMSON TG585v7
