BE Box burnt out?

Mate has what is apparently called a 'BE Box'. I think its a rebadged Speedtouch 780WL.

Anyway he's asked me to post this as his internet is dead due to the fact his BeBox appears to have broken. He cannot access it over his network and it's apparently really, really hot. He's just burnt his finger on it.

Anyone else had this problem and does anyone know whats wrong with it?

You're correct in saying it's a 780WL. Before we swapped ours for a Netgear DG834N, the BeBox used to get warm but never to the point where you couldn't touch it.

how do you find the netgear compared to the be box? worthwhile upgrade?

migrated to BE today, and nothing but probs with the BE box..

I've been using the Netgear DG834GT for a while and its fine on Be

Not had any probs with the Speedtouch 780WL I have mine against a wire bookend - held in place with an elastic band. The Broadcom chipset can't be beaten for hanging onto a line and at top speed. No probs. with heat.

I use a Netgear DG834N on Be and I havent had any problems. The reason being that the be box only had 3 usable ethernet ports (one is reserved).
