Hello, sorry if this has been posted before, but thought I'd just let you know in case like myself you had not seen the option.

If you log into your be account, you can now pick broadband profiles and there's one called "turn gaming mode on". So gutted I've never seen this option before as it has made my pings in games go from 20 down to 5 (and I'm sure it's probably been around for ages) :) Teak speak I now get 3 as well.

Anyway, again apologies if this has been mentioned already.

Nah, it's a Be-only feature.

Gaming Mode basically sets your line from default Interleave to 'Fast Path', which works fine on good lines but not so great on bad ones. O2 doesn't support this at all, neither do most ISP's.

Optimise for Speed reduces your target SNR value, however if you have a DMT-compatible modem or a router running DGTeam you can adjust this value locally yourself. Stability raises your SNR.

Great when it work's unfortunately it broke my internet when I tried it out when I first went with BE. Had to ring them up and get them to reset the profile.

I've got bethere and a netgear router can someone walk me through it?

Just log into your account on their website and then you will see 'broadband profiles' on the right hand side. Just put a tick in the gaming profile and press update. It will restart your router and job done. Test everything works fine then if you're happy, press the complete profile button and it will make the change permanent.

Could you give us an idea where you are pinging 5 ms and 3 ms to?

I think 5 ms is pushing it a bit for a residential ADSL connection; I've seen 7 ms to bbc.co.uk. In any case, a drop from 20 to 5 ms is probably a considerable over exaggeration given that BE's standard interleaving profile is INP 2 with 'max delay' 8 ms meaning if all is well you could see at best a drop from 20 to 12 ms.

There's a fairly big DGTeam related thread which hangs out in the first few pages of this subforum, however, this post might help you along.

On my clans Counter Strike Source Server - 213.108.31.131:27110 pinging 5ms to it.

Yeah, it is.

I've now come across some additional BE users in central and East London with 6 ms to bbc.co.uk & Rapidswitch; one in Maidenhead with 5 ms. It seems like Berkshire, especially the Eastern side, would be a sweet spot as well.

What I actually wanted to emphasise was my opinion that a drop of 8 ms should be more typical when switching from INP 2 to INP 0 on a BE line. I therefore thought it more likely that your ping with 'gaming mode' off would be closer to (6 + 8) ms.
