BE, could this be the end of a good ISP?

Absolutly ridiculous, the forum is filling up rapidly with people getting similar issues, tons and tons of disconnections, slow speeds. My 18mb connection has gone down to 3mb and will not sync any quicker.

Before you ask this has been an ongoing ticket, no internal equipment is at fault, my line has been checked over by BT.

Absolutly fed up with them at the moment, havnt been able to use my connection at home properly now for well over a week, everyone started reporting the issues at the same time.

Im using opendns, the issue is not really related to that tbh, just a major slowdown on the whole network and disconnections over a lot of customers connections.

Been with them for 4 years now and nothing to report here over the last week or so? Get a steady 11mb down and 1.3mb up ........

Let's hope they aren't going down hill I've never been happier with an ISP... Maybe ADSL24 perhaps :)

Sound more like a rant that attempt at diagnosis to me.

Sure you're not connected through LINX?

Any connection going through LINX since (as far as I can see) the 17th of last month has bee subject to high pings/packet loss/slow speeds. It's where the lag on certain servers came from and has been effecting other isps because there's nothing wrong with their networks.

That said, LINX claimed to have fixed it the other day (http://beusergroup.co.uk/?id=499) and fair enough, my ping dropped but I got some packet loss instead last night and I still have issues when pings go through LINX.

Edit: seems there google/youtube isues atm.

Been with BE for a few yrs now and never ever had a problem with speeds or pings with them...by far the best ISP for me but then im lucky as i live about 200 metres from my exchange:p...24mb down and 2mb upload...stable as a rock.

Only issue ive ever had was a few weeks my BT line stopped working...took BT around a week to fix the freakin fault so i had a very up n down connection but since nov 1st its been back to rock stable.

To be honest I think my opening post was a bit hasty, looking at it the issue is down to the cockup BT have made however I am not happy with the support I have had in this instance, especially some of the phone calls I have had to make.

Its going to need a 2nd engineer out to look at the issue by the looks.

However I am getting abit concerned about the increace in people complaining on the BE forums about their connections.

Apart from this week, and one other incident about 7 months ago they have been rock solid for 2 years for me

Most people are fine, just those of us unlucky enough to be running through LINX which for the record, has come back again tonight :(.

Only problem I've ever had though, and it's not effecting speeds :)

You can't, LINX = London Internet Exchange.

Just seems to be stuff going through linx-gw1.betherenow.co.uk is slowing down now.

A connection sync issue has nothing to do with the ISP. People need to read up on how ADSL works before they randomly flame decent ISPs.

The sync issue started occurring after BE got BT in to the exchange to replace the tier pair and do a lift and shift, however my complaint was more aimed at the experience I had with the technical support team and the constant chasing I had to do on the phone (which is not a nice experience with BE to be honest).

I know how ADSL works and I work for an ISP myself as a second line technical support engineer.

However for a decent ISP, you must also have this backed up by an effective support experience both at portal level, and telephone contact.

At one point I was on the phone for 50 minutes on hold and eventually got through to a woman in India who could hardly speak understand a word I was saying.

This issue is no longer with BE now as the issue from the exchange has now turned in to extensive noise on my line so its with BT Retail.

Also, I have been a BE Forum member for a while now and a little concerned about the huge increase in the complaints I have seen on there recently

ouch i just signed up to them today to change away from tiscali aka talktalk, please tell me i did not make a mistake

You have a 14 day get out clause I think but I doubt you would need it. I am currently with O2 on their old unlimited system but if I did move it would be straight over to BE.

I think you will be happy at BE
