Hi guys,

After your advice and getting Be* in 08 and it's been fantastic. 24meg down 1.3 up (not on the Pro package) and £12 a month :D

Anyway, lately I keep getting disconnected and the little network box in Windows 7s system tray shows the activity icon, then the exclamation symbol then eventually it kicks back to life and then the DSL connects again. Odd.

I'm very sure its not just the DSL dropping, but it seems completely random, can be a few days or twice in a day no matter how much usage it gets.

I have two PCs and a powerline adapter connected and two iphones wirelessly to the standard Thomson Speedtouch TG585v7. Apart from not having gigabit, I'm perfectly happy with the setup, bar this silly issue.

My stats shortly after getting connected to Be were in the following post: http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showpost.php?p=11829765&postcount=35

There are now as follows:

Uptime: 0 days, 0:11:48
DSL Type: G.992.5 annex A
Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]: 1,313 / 24,574
Data Transferred (Sent/Received) [kB/kB]: 0.00 / 0.00
Output Power (Up/Down) [dBm]: 12.0 / 18.0
Line Attenuation (Up/Down) [dB]: 4.0 / 9.0
SN Margin (Up/Down) [dB]: 7.0 / 7.0
Vendor ID (Local/Remote): TMMB / BDCM
Loss of Framing (Local/Remote): 0 / 0
Loss of Signal (Local/Remote): 0 / 0
Loss of Power (Local/Remote): 0 / 0
Loss of Link (Remote): 0
Error Seconds (Local/Remote): 0 / 0
FEC Errors (Up/Down): 8 / 0
CRC Errors (Up/Down): 8 / 8
HEC Errors (Up/Down): 5,208 / 8

(only been up a few mins I know, need to reset it again anyway).

The main thing I have nocited after this 'reboot' is that my NAT reverts to strict in MW2 (been playing a lot of that lately) and I need to reboot the router and sometimes my computer too for it to revert back to open, which I find rather odd.

Is it time to get rid of the Speedtouch? I know many people hate it, but it's served me well bar this one problem. Any ideas? Anything better out there?

I was with Be since Nov 2005 and every router they have sent me has been the most unstable pile of so and so you can imagine. They would randomly reboot, freeze and throw a hissy fit the moment more then 3 wireless devices wanted to use the internet at the same time.

Do yourself a favour and get a half decent router to enjoy that lovely connection mate. What is your budget?

yeah my be* supplied router started playing up, i think it was overheating. swapped it out for a netgear dg834 and didn't have any problems, then a juniper netscreen 5gt adsl became available so i started using that and haven't had any problems either. however, i know at least two people who have not had any issues with the be* supplied router. mine was the older bigger black one, and the other two were the newer smaller white units. which is yours?

Same thing here with my BE router(small white one),unstable pile of cheap crap.Never had any problems with my old 3com office router, will be going back to it.

They are the best line stats I have ever seen, very nice. I take it you live in the exchange :P

Whilst the BE Router is not the best router in the world it should still hold the connection for at least a couple of days without needing a reboot.

First, before replacing your router, call up BE and raise a ticket, explain the problem and they should put you on another profile which may help.

However, If you've had the router for sometime and its just started then like you say, this could well be the router. Have you performed a hard reset on it? (Small little button at the rear?)

Nice stats :)

I would initially start by contacting Be and working with support it could be a Be router issue, before you go and spend money getting a brand new router.
