Hi all,

I've been a long time lurker of OcUK and decided it was time I man up and create an account. So here I am.

I am looking to build my very first PC sometime later this year (Oct/Nov?) in preparation for all the great games coming out. I'll be thinking about nailing down my component choice nearer the time but as this is my first full build I have some questions I would like cleared up beforehand.

My MAX budget will be £800 and will need to include an OS but not a monitor or kb/m. I also won't be doing any overclocking.

As a base build, I have come up with this:

Gigabyte GeForce GTX 560Ti SUPER OC - £209.99
Intel Core i5-2500 3.30GHz - £169.99
Asus P8H67-M Pro - £85.18
XFX Pro 750W Core Edition Power Supply - £72.98
Microsoft Windows 7 Bundle - £68.40
Home Premium 64 Bit & Western Digital Caviar Blue 500GB - £28.79
G.Skill RipJaw 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-10666C9 1333MHz Dual Channel Kit - £65.99
Antec 100 One Hundred Ultimate Gaming Case - £39.98
Samsung SH-S223C/BEBE 22x DVD±RW SATA ReWriter (Black) - OEM - £14.99

TOTAL: £772.79

First, what do you think of the overall build? Have I overlooked anything?

I also have some specific questions:

1. I'm aware of the difference between H67 and P67 motherboards, but is there any really difference between the different models? For example, what is the difference between the Asus P8H67-M and Asus P8H67-M Pro models?

2. Power supplies. Is 750w overkill if I'm going for one GPU? Will 650w be able to power any single card I throw at it for a few years? Also, do I really need modular?

3. Lastly, often I see 1600Mhz RAM is cheaper than 1333Mhz chips. What will happen if I use 1600Mhz RAM on a H67 board? Will it automatically clock down?

Enlighten me!

Ideally you need to spec nearer the time as prices will change and possibly new cpu's from AMD & Intel.

PSU will be fine but this will depend on GPU being used.

The main difference between the 2 chipsets is the p range can overclock the K range of cpus.

heres a slight revision for you.

the PSU is still a bit to much, as you thought 650w will power any single card, and the ram is 1600MHZ which will just work at lower speeds untill you alter the ram dividers and overclock.

hmm where did u find the Asus P8H67-M Pro for £85.18? I cant see it for that price, maybe im going blind. 750w is definitely overkill if your only using one gpu, 650w is more than enough. I cant answer ur other questions :(

Thanks for the quick replies guys. It's good to see I'm in safe hands. I'll no doubt be needing your assistance nearer the time!
I've watched this video a few times and building a PC looks really easy if you have an interest in tech. The only part that looks a bit confusing is connecting the SATA drives.

I know that oc'ing SB is supposed to be very easy, but for a first build I really don't want to screw myself with the warranty.
