Be honest with me...

I would personally say yes. I went from 24" 1080p to 27" 1440p and was amazed at the difference. I wouldn't even consider going back now. I wouldn't say its jaw dropping, but it's very nice in comparison.

I would imagine it's a much better jump from a 27" 1080p over a 24" 1080p screen. The image is cleaner & crisper :)

I upgraded to 1440p from 1080p. It's definitely noticeable, to me it was not exactly jaw dropping, but pretty great nonetheless... Although imo the best bit about upgrading to 1440p is the extra space I now have on the desktop!

I use to use my ACD as a monitor and that is 1440p however I went back to a 1080p monitor because I wanted high frame rates and g sync. Cant really say I'm dying to get 1440p back, it's nice but it isn't anything jaw dropping. I'm happy at 1080p and moat games you play are designed for this resolution anyway because consoles.

If you want a higher res in games or even on your desk top you can use the nivida GeForce app and enable that DSR feature, though I don't know well it works.

Not sure about jaw dropping, might need to go 4k for that. Still nice improvement however.

Yeah I'm thinking do I really need 1440p....I'm thinking a cost effective upgrade would be 144hz Gsync....I mean a swift would be nice but it's a lot of money IMO for a monitor...

Not jaw dropping, just visually tighter/better, although if it was a trade off between 1080p 120/144Hz V's 1440p 60Hz I'd go with the 1080p option every time.

1440p 120/144Hz is the sweet spot.

I did exactly the same, and let me tell you the bump in refresh rate and having g sync had a far greater effect on me than 1440p. I was jaw dropped. Where as i don't think I was anything When I saw 1440p, just loaded up a game and played as normal.

I really wouldn't be happy spending that money on a TN panel. Read through the thread, it appears to have a high failure rate. There are other IPS with G-sync monitors out there :)

If he doesn't want to buy a swift because of the price I'm pretty sure he won't buy an ips G-sync. Unless you can find him for one under £450.

It's not about the price, its a crappy TN panel!! Why drop £500 on a TN when you could add an extra £50-100, or even the same about of money for a far more superior unit.

Just want opinions...I'm thinking of getting a 1080p Gsync for games and a second cheap 1440p for video/music editing for real estate...

For me it was a great visual upgrade and well worth it.

As for issues with the ROG swift - you'll always get more complaining posts than praise posts.(IMO)

I know ;)

It also depends on requirements. While I need an IPS for my photography, a TN isn't going to cut it so I'm a little biased :p

We are all different. I personally hated the Dell IPS I had for its tearing and colour bleed and couldn't wait to get shot.

For your purposes, yes definitely worth it. 1440p for photo editing made a huge difference, and frankly I couldn't go back to 1080p for gaming either. Will it blow your mind? Probably not, but you will find your 1080p monitor a bit cramped after using 1440p.
