Yeah I'm thinking do I really need 1440p....I'm thinking a cost effective upgrade would be 144hz Gsync....I mean a swift would be nice but it's a lot of money IMO for a monitor...

I really wouldn't be happy spending that money on a TN panel. Read through the thread, it appears to have a high failure rate. There are other IPS with G-sync monitors out there![]()
If he doesn't want to buy a swift because of the price I'm pretty sure he won't buy an ips G-sync. Unless you can find him for one under £450.
For me it was a great visual upgrade and well worth it.
As for issues with the ROG swift - you'll always get more complaining posts than praise posts.(IMO)

).But don't shout about it!I know
It also depends on requirements. While I need an IPS for my photography, a TN isn't going to cut it so I'm a little biased![]()
Exactly this, a lot of us have had zero issues from day one(touch wood). But don't shout about it!
