Currently I have my internet with Be and am on the Unlimited up to 24mb package. Our phone is provided by BT at the moment but my mother wants to change to Talk Talk for the phone because the line rental and that is cheaper.

Can I keep the internet with Be and her move over to Talk Talk or will moving over to their network knock my internet off? Don't really want to leave Be as I've never had any problems.

You'd loose Be. If I was forced of Be to talk talk I'd probably cry.

Your mother of course realises talk talk line rental is £11.49 and BT line rental (paperless billing) is £11.54. If she thinks it's worth taking talk talk broadband over BE for 5p a month is smart...

Talk Talk is awful, we're in the middle of trying to get their broadband installed and it's like pulling teeth. Avoid.

Unfortunately our exchange is so bad we can't get decent Internet here or i'd use Be/O2/Virgin Media.

Large % of our migrations to SWB have been ex-Tiscal / TalkTalk customers - although their phone packages are probably fine, just their broadband is hit and miss

Edit: I really shouldn't flame other providers - you're probably already aware of them.

Many exchanges only have Talk Talk LLU as an option - it's all well and good suggesting other ISP's but we aren't all blessed with a massive choice.
For me it's ADSL Max or Talk Talk LLU.

Personally I decided to pay that little extra and go for the business division of Talk Talk - Opal.
I don't get the free phone calls (but I use my mobile for everything anyway).
However I do get the up to 24mb, 1mb up, static IP, priority traffic across the Talk Talk network and UK call centres.

So far it's been excellent.

Cheers for the replies convinced her not to move. I know nothing of the phone bill and what package or how much it costs because I never use it, only ever use my mobile.

So had a look at her bill and its the calls to mobiles and premium numbers thats making it higher and the fact that the Talk Talk bloke is saying all she'll ever pay is the £15 a month

Take it from me Im on Talk Talk.

AVOID THEM AT ALL COSTS!!!!!

Meant to get 8mb braodband. THis what I currently get:

Being an ex-Pipex, ex-Tiscali customer now on Talk-Talk, I too say avoid.

Speed is OK but then I'm only connected at 1MBit. Connection mainly has the habit of dropping at critical times such as making a online payment.

Get your mother to do what I did, ring BT & say that your thinking of leaving to go to either O2 or TT & they will redudce the line rental charge & offer some other sweetners to stay, if the call your bluff say you will ring them back.

I've now got free evening & weekend calls & my line rental is now £8.29 all for a simple call to teh disconections team & that was my offer :D

worth a try
