Hi there im on Bethere Provider and want a better adsl router.
i purchased a belkin n1 vision with the lcd screen.
i really dont like the router it gives me drop outs on the net.
im sending it back tomorow as i want to change it for something better .
ppl have recomended this Netgear DG834N 270Mbps RangeMax NEXT Wireless ADSL2+ Modem/Router.
can some1 pls tell me if this will be better as i want to keep the next 1 i get.
thx in responce. want something reliable and something 2 last. ;)

Netgear and Linksys seem to be fairly consistent these days. Belkin generally don't make very good network hardware at all and in future I'd advise you stay clear.

DG834N is good if you want a one box thing with all the latest 802.11n wireless etc.

Another option for similar money is to go for a Linksys WRT54GL, flash it with tomato firmware and use a Linksys AM200 modem for the adsl connection, bit messier and wont offer the latest wifi standards but very good system.

If you get a DG834N I would certainly flash it with the DGTeam firmware, much better for me on Be than the official netgear was.

so o u recon i would be better with Linksys WRT54GL + Linksys AM200 modem

than the netgear DG834N . your responce is very welcome ;) what i want is stable fast speed. but tbh wireless n im not 2 fussed about. just good stable connection.

My DG834N is perfectly stable, syncs faster than the bebox did too, the custom firmware for the Linksys router though has a lot of useful advanced features, depends if you'd use them though.

If you share your connection with other people then using the QoS for instance you could make sure your gaming traffic has a higher priority, limit download bandwidth etc. Not foolproof but can help a bit in some cases.

Hi again seems u know a bit about this then.
would u say thenetgear would syc faster than the linksys.
what sort of tools does the linsys have when flashed with the custom firmware. and does the netgear let u see what u syc @. sorry for all the questions but it looks like ill go with what u recomend in the end. thx again.

just thought id give u a heads up.
just bought the netgear as it will be less hassle.
will reply on how it performs when i recieve it. ;)

I'm on Be and have a DG834GTv3 with 3rd party firmware and its fast, tweaked my SNR% to get 12meg down from 9.5meg.

Wireless signal is excellent!

I think Netgear is the way to go
