Just upgraded the PSU on a known good system, previously I had a Corsair HX650, replaced this with a BeQuiet Dark Power Pro 10 850W as I want to run crossfire 6970s

PSU seems to work fine, but if you connect the OCK switch, or the little loop that does the same things, supposedly this joins all 4 12V rails together into one big one, then my computer won't turn on at all.

Spec is as per signature only I now have 8GB of RAM, Windows 8 and a second 6970. I've also disabled all overclocks.

Here's the exact happenings
PSU with no OCK connection = turns on, boots, apparently works fine
PSU with OCK switch connected but turned off = boots then immediately turns off
PSU with OCK switch connected and turned on = will not power on at all
PSU with OCK loop cable connected = will not power on at all.

That suggests to me that one of the rails is iffy.

If you've got sufficient cables (Don't know this PSU off the top of my head, sorry), try connecting a load to each of the rails in turn. I'd guess that when you stick something on the iffy one it'll die.

RMA time IMHO.

The rail arrangement is

1 - CPU1, Mobo
2 - CPU2, SATA
3 - PCI-E 1 + 3
4 - PCI-E 2 + 4

I have all 4 rails hooked up to something and they appear to be working. Tested with Furmark.

That 860W Seasonic is actually the same basic PSU only £3 more expensive and a bit noisier.

I guess I'll be sending it back then, which is annoying since my GF bought it me from a certain competitor in Bolton who have a terrible RMA process. Guess I'll be back on the Corsair until January.

Yes that is my current PSU.

It's weird as all 4 12V rails are fine (12.09V) and the 5V 5vSB and 3.3V rails are also fine, tested with a multimeter both connected to the motherboard and disconnected. We did notice an unpleasant high pitched whistle coming from it too.

Going to hook up the OCK loop cable and send it back to Bolton like that. With that cable connected it wont even turn on, even by shorting green to black.

So much for an early xmas present :(

Quick update. I've gone back to the Corsair PSU, it's badly installed sitting upside down on top of my case. The high pitched whistle has gone and I can set my FSB back to 400MHz again

Only thing I can't do is run my second 6970, which was the reason for upgrading the PSU in the first place.

note: The BeQuiet PSU had all these issues both with and without the second 6970.

Update: I asked BeQuiet for advice while my GF was arranging the RMA.

A courier came to collect the PSU and then 5 minutes later BeQuiet emailed me and said they would be sending me out a replacement, a 1200W model. So I've contacted the seller and they have agreed to get the PSU back to me as it's a win/win for both of us. A better PSU for me and less work for them.

Edit: 1200W PSU now on it's way from Germany, yay!

Received my replacement today, a shiny new 1200W model.

It seems to work fine. I can overclock my CPU to 3.6GHz without issues. I can run both GPUs in firmware without issues.

However if I set my RAM to 1600MHz, which is the rated speed for Corsair Vengeance, Windows 8 will not boot, it hangs on the Windows logo and doesn't even display the swirly thing. This is with all overclocks removed, CPU and RAM both at their rated speed.

Any idea why?
