the exchange has just gone live im with aquiss at the moment do you guys recommend a change?its only a few pounds more what is the service like?any opinions would be great!
 
Hi ants83, I migrated to Be* 24 Unlimited a month back from AOL and I have to say I'm totally impressed, I had a few problems regarding my SYNC for the first couple of days but this was due to poor internal wiring and not seeing speeds over 8meg this is now sorted and my speeds are awesome :p

The Be* box is very impressive mine is a speedtoutch 780, It hasn’t froze or lost connection so far it’s being rock solid, It also includes a VOIP connection, The wireless however is average supporting only 54Mbps.

There user forum is also a very knowledgeable place to look for info/problems etc thought you have to be with Be* to view and post on there.

I can’t comment on their CS team as I haven’t had the need to speak to them yet but there web note system is great for quick general questions.

If you want any more info just let me know :)

Now on my second day of Be after placing my order last thursday.

No problems getting connected with my Netgear router.

Was playing CS:S earlier with a ping of 17.

Currently getting just under 9mb about 1.5km from the exchange.

Going to try messing around with settings and maybe give the BeBox a go sometime this weekend to see if I can get any more out of it.


Overall very happy with it. MUCH better than Tiscali. :)

Dingleberry88 the DMT tool loves the speedtouch 780 :) I've managed to tweak my SNR to 3.5 which gave me about 3meg extra, Its totally rock solid sitting on 3.5 I dont get many CRC errors and HEC errors and havent see it drop below 3.5 it just sits there solid all day.

(I must add ive just had all my internal wiring replaced also a new BT master faceplace and sockets have being changed all done by BT so you might not get better results :p )


Its totally worth messing about with DMT to tweak the router/line :)

Yep it’s a tool you download here DMT Tool make sure you download DMT v7.31 halfway down the page.

Ill post a few screen shots & an tutorial for you tomorrow to configure & tweak the speedtouch router, it’s far too late plus I'm using my laptop at the moment :p so it’s kinda difficult.

Another Be convert... Been with Zen for the past 3 and a half years, all of which have been great but the speed for the price just wasn't worth it.

I'm getting a solid 8mbps after tcp optimizer tweaking but I'm also interested in the DMT Tool. Still can't get my head round it, would be interested in that guide!

Oh and I would definitely recommend Be, their customer care has been great and the whole migration process was efficiently quick!

Finally, unlimited fast broadband :)
 
All these happy people who have moved to Be are calming my nerves. I've just got my MAC code from Zen a couple of days ago and my Be activiation date is 6th March.

My line probably isn't as good as you guys (2.0km straight line from the exchange and 41dB downstream attenuation :( ) so I'll probably only get 6-7Mbit down, but the much improved upload speeds will be nice. :D
