BE unlimited migration issue ?

Ive been with BE for over a year and decided to migrate to sky as i was getting a tv and talk package from them , i was under the impression after 12 months i could move without issue , so i send them a ticket asking them to cencel my service and they just replied with this:

Dear Mr Axxxx, Thank you for contacting us and we are sorry to hear that you want to cancel your service. According to our T&C, you could choose out of two types for cancellation: 1. Express - will terminate the service in 10 days, costs 40 pounds, that amount will be refunded once you place another order with us. 2. Standard - 3 months notice, free of charge (only the monthly fees for the 3 months) Please, advise how we should proceed. Kind regards, Kelly/Be*Team

so whats the deal with that ? surely once ive gone over the 12 months i can leave for free ?
 
The different packages have different T&Cs, For Unlimited and Pro that is a 3 months notice or the express fee.
