BeamNG - Car Physics Simulation

Saw this on reddit briefly earlier, the damage effects look very impressive. Was a little confused as to its aim though, a full 'game' or what? Is there steering wheel support?

Not too sure to be honest on both questions haha, I think its just going to be a sandbox? But there are videos of Rallying / Gymkhana etc.

Impressive physics. Well, there's probably 1001 physics-based demos, but if they can turn it into a game, then could be a winner.

I think that's the actual plan but nothing along the lines of games like GRID with their career mode... its more sandbox so i bet future updates will be more cars, modes and features and because its moddable you'll have a nice selection of off roading, destruction derby and stuff people make (provided the game takes off :p)

There's a script you can add to the game that lets you use a G25 wheel. I suppose if you want to use another wheel then you've for to write a script yourself or wait for the devs or someone else to write one.

The aim of these is to impress developers, not gamers.

The technology will most likely be bought and incorporated into a new incarnation of someone else's engine.

*edit*
Just seen the YT video - if it's calculated real time and not pre-rendered I will be VERY impressed. Reserving judgement for now though.

This, I imagine their aim is to sell it to other developers at this point and maybe produce a game further down the line. Their tech is pretty impressive and surely has to be made in a demolition derby type game.

It must be real time. There would be no point in pre-rendering it due to your point. They'll want to sell this tech to developers and dropping pre-rendered into the conversation is a sure fire way to kill that pitch.

Sometimes Youtube adverts make you laugh inadvertently. :)

They wouldn't buy this one !

This in iRacing or the other million racing games out there will be awesome.

usually these kind of demo's use so much processing power that you couldn't really use it in a game.

I'm guessing it's the same guys who did this? over a year ago
Yea it says beamng at the end

It's nothing like driving in real life. That or pickup trucks are just horrendous.
