Beast of a Mk1 MR2

no mention of engine size, condition or recent engine work.

Sounds to me like he bought it thinking it was amazing and is now trying to sell it on becuase its failed to live up to expectations.

Id love to know how his £140 momo wheel is better than the normal steering wheel!

Non payers will be delt. Dont bind if u dont have the cash - payment on pick up . MAY CONSIDER A SWOPP ..

 :D

Come on guys, its fast enough to blow all the paint off the rear spoiler...

Awesome car.
Here's a few takes:

"with black lower body kit"
...to cover the rust

" It has a £140 momo steering wheel.- This is Better than the normal one."
...the std MR2 steering wheel was the same as my in my old Corolla, and I really liked that. The Momo doesn't look anything like as nice.

"The mileage is about 95,000"
...measured in km, miles or parsecs?

"minor Rust not even surface rust on the back arch - its nothing major not even noticable"
...either it IS noticeable or it isn't. Rusting rear arches is common on mk1s and is BAD news as it's very hard to repair.

"As requested the cars performance stats : 0-60mph is 6.5 seconds Top speed - 145 mph"
...Even a supercharged mk1 couldn't manage 145mph. The supercharged units had 150hp, the std with 122hp. As the supercharged versions had raised louvres (like the turbo mk2s) this clearly isn't a supercharged model. Std production model managed around 120mph, when new. Guess he's being a little optimistic. Infact I don't think it's actually possible even on the clock. The mk1 MR2 had a lot in common with the Corolla GT, including the engine and gearing. My old GT maxed out at 138mph on the speedo right at the redline (7800rpm). So unless he's dropped it from a hercules, he's on drugs.

That was on the mr2oc forums recently, quite amusing :p

Standard car is 7.7s to 60 and 121mph according to the book, the clock reads up to 150 but mine at least is a fair bit out around the 80 mark and higher (comparing speedo to gps reading), so with just an exhaust not gonna come anywhere near to 6.5 and 145...

Rear arches aren't *that* hard to do really, parts are readily available from a couple of suppliers, just the cost for the body shop to cut out the old ones and weld in the new ones then spray it...

Brilliant car... Im sure that the new owner would be glad shelling out some cash for it...

You get some weird and wonderfull cars out there, this has to be one of them. It would be great if it got over £500 lol...

I think my favourite quote is:

"The front winscreen has a crack in it - these can be replaced by any windscreen company."

ohhhh glad he cleared that one up .... theres me thinking you get them fixed by SPAR

Cracked front windscreens on a Mk1 can indicate serious, and very difficult to fix rust...
Same used to happen in Montegos and Maestros, remember? Windscreen channels rot out, blister and let the roof flex....and then the screen shatters :D

One of my favourite quotes:

It has a beast of a exhaust IT IS SERIOUSLY LOUD !- the car is loud and gives EXTRA BHP to the car .

If nothing else the lack of back pressure would probably reduce the power ever so slightly

The whole ad is full of it. What exactly has he done to the engine to make it faster anyway?
