So after a lifetime of subsisting on prebuilt lower mid range PCs and running stuff at 20 FPS I finally worked my ass off long enough to get a top of the line custom machine.

I am basically set on the CPU, RAM and Graphics Card (tho I am willing to consider different models of the 780ti as I am not too sure what exactly the difference between them is).

Would appreciate any advice on the other parts to either improve performance with a small increase of cost or drop the cost without any real impact on performance so i can maybe buy some food in January. ^^

So here are the parts so far:

Picked the motherboard because it was the cheapest in the high end system builder. ^^

That is a component I really know quite little about, so I would be fine with a cheaper one as long as it does not impact gaming/editing performance.

I'm fine with changing most parts as long as there is no real impact on performance or reliability.

As far budget goes, i would really like to keep it under 2100, which this thing so far fails to do. Ideally it would be about 1900 - 2050.

Ok, thanks for the builds!

Looks like everyone is suggesting a dual graphics card build over the 780Ti.

So far I'm leaning towards the build of Mr Doomedspeed. :)

Just need to add a proper Blu-ray drive tho.

Was also wondering about the Corsair Obsidian 750D case and how good the dust filter on it is. My place is dusty as hell so I need something solid for that to keep my rig from clogging up in a couple of months.

Doomedspeeds is the same as mine just white ;)

Why do you need an Blueray drive?? I use Sky "NOW" box office or netflix and not touched a disk in years ..... apart from today to install Windows XP on my sisters netbook.

I'm just not a green kind of guy. :)

Still quite a bit of shows and films I can't legally get with Netflix and such and its always good to have an offline option when the intertubes get clogged up in this backwater.

Might just keep using the old PS3 for that tho.

I'll probably plug in the 780Ti for now and grab another one a few months down the line. Just wondering if that 850W psu is enough for that.

Had another question about the motherboard.

The boards offered in the various builds range from £120 to almost £300.

I've always been kind of a noob when it comes to hardware, but it's easy enough to look up benchmarks and such for most parts. Not sure how to evaluate the boards themselves tho.

I guess the expensive ones offer quad sli but that is not something I am planning to use anyway, so are there any other advantages?

For example, what advantage would the Asus Rampage IV Formula Intel X79 have over the Gigabyte Z87X-D3H Intel Z87 in a build with max 2 graphics cards?
