Beastgrip - Which lens?

Hey there, so I got my beastgrip through from kickstarter which will use a 37mm or 52mm threaded lens, it says. My question is what do I go for? What's best?

Erm, well I just want something that will fit and not be useless? That one wouldn't fit as it's a bayonet fitment and I need a screw fit?

Yes. What is the exact mount specification?

Not at all obvious from the link what lenses would work. The only threaded lens I know are c-mount lenses for small sensors. These range from nasty plastic to expensive wide aperture glass for CCTV. Most are fixed aperture fixed focus primes and are utterly boring for photography

Tbh, it looks pretty stupid if you ask me, just buy a compact.

M42 is a screw mount no idea the diameter, surely you had something in mind when you purchased it? The website is ridiculously unhelpful!

Forgot that m42 was screw mount. If it is compatible then there are many old lenses. Depends entirely what you want, pentex super takumar 50mm f1.4 would be a good bet. But that website is so devoid of details on what the heck that is its impossible to know what will work

I had nothing in mind! It's kickstarter, I randomly back so many things while drinking coffee at work haha but agreed it's mega unhelpful. I'll have a look at the m42 mind!

Original Leica threaded lenses (and most enlarger lenses) are 39mm and, as already mentioned, there's the M42 range but nothing else that I'm aware of. The choice of 37mm & 52mm seems odd to put it mildly.

search for "what about lenses", it's 37mm with everything else needing step-up rings and spacers.

D'oh how did I not think about that!

Seems a weird contraption and a very strange choice of thread seize, I'm not sure I really get the point of the product except to put a fairly rubbish difficult to control camera behind a lens that doesn't suit it. Kick-starter seems to be becoming a bit of a farce with people backing all sorts of tat.
