Beat this guitar

mind you the pacifica 112 is £8 more....

112 has good reviews.... not so sure about that ibanez... dont expect the whammy bar to be anything special... you mind find it puts it out of tune slightly.

it depends though, ibanez guitar might look better to you...

go with your original plan

I personally owns an Ibanez RG321MH (In "wood" black)
It's £200 bang on without an amp :(

I know it's over budget but I've tried a few Ibanez in my local store - I feel the RG321MH is better compared to the GRG170DX - the build quality of any Ibanez is top notch but the whammy bar is pure annoyance (because I personally drop tune my strings often) and getting them all in-tune is a pain. Also, don't expect too much from a 10watt amp - great for practice but not great when trying make your tone sounds like the track's.

Want wammy, there's fingers ;) "Vibrato" or so according to Paul Gilbert.

However, if you can't stretch the budget, then stick to the GRG170DX, you can't go wrong with it IMO. Quality definitely better than a Squire Affinity basic set. The sound depends on the style you play but the GRG can the range.

I haven't played a Pacifica so can't comment on SidewinderINC's choice.

Not a lot, I think you'll end up using the bridge pickup in both 99% of the time (they are both humbuckers)

Another vote for the 112 package here as well if you are buying in that price range.

112 - Played one and was actually shocked at how good it was, reguardless of price, just knowing it was a budget model. I stick a thumbs up to it.

Sorry to be boring, but another vote for a Pacifica 112, they are without doubt the best around at that price point and are more versatile than their looks might have you believe.

Also, the amp in the package you showed us is dreadful. Not just dreadful, but ear-bleedingly dreadful.

Cheers,
James

Roland Cube 15Watts.

I got it at £70 from my local. Best practice amp IMO.

Clear and crisp to heavy and distorted. I occasionally use the built in effects (which is similar to them BOSS ones) but I personally prefer my own multi.

Depends on the tone/sound you're going for really, though I guess if you're mainly thrashing out powerchords it'd probably be all humbucker.

Another vote for the 112. Its got a superb tonal range, as befits an SSH configuration, from the "Womans tone" a la clapton through to metal sounds.
