I'm wanting to spend not over £600, this is what I've got(I think it all goes together). I'm not going to get the graphics yet, am going wait to see what happens with the ati's. It will mostly be used for digital edit things, zbrush then games. I will probably(unsuccesfully) attempt to overclock the i5 to 4ghz.

Intel Core i5 760 2.80GHz - £146.86
Gigabyte GA-P55A-UD3 Intel P55 (Socket 1156) DDR3 Motherboard - £104.99
Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit - OEM (GFC-00599) - £82,99
G.Skill Ripjaw 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C8 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (F3-12800CL8D-4GBRM) - £79.89
OCZ StealthXStream 2 600W Power Supply - £58.99
Samsung SpinPoint F3 1TB SATA-II 32MB Cache - OEM (HD103SJ) - £42.99
Coolermaster Elite 370 Case - Black - £32.99
Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro Rev 2 CPU Cooler - £18.99
Total: £568.69

I also may want to add another 4gbs of memory later on will that mess up the dual ram stuff, or will I have to get rid of the old ram?

Anything fouly wrong or can do better?

change the psu to 625w sapphirethe ram to dominators that on offer at £70 and cooler to fenrir evo/akasa venom.

or just get the phenom ii x4 955..but if you really want an i5 its your choice :D
btw i just noticed you dont have gpu on ur basket so you will need to add a gpu as i5 7xx dont have integrated gpu. on the other hand i3 and and phenom ii have igp so that you can use the igp of the motherboard.

I normally choose AMD and I want to see what its like on the other side. I prefer the i5, I needs the power.

I didnt know it doesnt have integrated graphics, but I can use my x1950 in the meantime.

food for thought

Without Gpu:

dane that first spec of yours doesnt have integrated gpu and as for the second spec if the OP can try andd stretch to a gtx460 it would be a better buy

*edit* if you would like to run igp on the first spec
go for one of these boards
Asus M4A88TD-V EVO/USB3 AMD 880G
Gigabyte GA-880GA-UD3H AMD 880G
Gigabyte GA-890GPA-UD3H AMD 890GX - if you want to crossfire in the future

and as for the case go for whichever one you like

Thanks for those build examples danewesley, but with a copy of Windows 7 it brings it close to my price anyway.

But then you are making me think, because would it be worth going cheaper now, depending on what the new sandy and bulldog things are going to be like and upgrading then.

lol @ bulldog :D
how long are you planning to keep this rig for?
if this rig is need now then either th i5 or phenom 955 should do, if you can wait it out till mainstream sandy bridge comes out then it would be better as you would get more for your money. that way, you can have both Mainstream(i3/i5 iirc) and ATI 6xxx series at the same time :D
