Bedding in new Disc and Pads?

How long does it take to bed in new disc and pads. New ones fitted last Friday, front only. Driven about 50 miles, brakes still a little soft IMO.
 
I would have thought that if you have new pads n discs then you just wouldn't be able to stop as quick as if they were bedded in. The fact that the pedal is soft just sounds like the system hasn't been bled very well.
Normally when I've done mine in the past I'm sure the pedal felt more solid for a while.
 
A couple of hundred miles will normally do it, maybe 500 miles at a push, although it depends what sort of driving you're doing.

50 miles isn't far enough though.

Sorry I didn't mean the pedal was soft, just the braking. The feel of the discs etc.
