So m'lady wants a tv in the bedroom so she can hide away while I take over the living room.

Requirements:
1. watch TV (instead of a tv tuner and connecting it to a wall socket, just use something online? let's not get into legalities over this)
2. "throw" content from phone / tablet. (galaxy s6 and a linx 8 running windows)
music. At the moment with our main TV (samsung) we can play videos to the tv over wifi, so youtube / video app can cast the video over. Looking for something like this.
3. Her phone will be a main point of contact, doesn't want a keyboard and mouse set up.
4. I don't have netflix at the moment, but do have prime.
5. Audio. Bluetooth speaker?

I'm thinking of how I can achieve this with relatively little spend, I have an old vga 20/22 inch monitor which was my second pc monitor which I can utilise and ideally I'd want something that's easy to use, something she can go in and work without me guiding her through everything.

As far as I can see, I have 3 options?

Chromecast (seems to be the best option here for current use traits, can just cast the screen etc, can i get the chromecast to output audio to a bt speaker or is that done via the phone)
Pi 3 (full on pc but can i control this as easily?)
Amazon fire tv stick (kodi, can you screen cast etc?)

Kodi interests me, mainly for the access to content. (before you all cry legalities, lets just not talk about that).

My main worry is vga to hdmi? What won't work (if anything)?

Looking like the amazon fire stick is best in terms of usability. Any major limitations of the stick I should know about?

yeah i'll get her a nice screen later down the road. I managed to nab another monitor that has dvi on it to make my life a little easier in the time being! I think it even has speakers on it too!

Only problem with getting a tv is it'll have to (obviously..) look similar to my samsung es8000! Continuity and all that ;)

sorry to come into this thread with another question.

but i have just recently got a amazon fire stick for the bedroom.

we use XBMC / KODI downstairs on the main tv from a HTPC hidden away.

ANy easy good links to follow to allow me to install KODI on the amazon fire stick please

Did that. All working BUT. UNlike my kodi through my HTPC. It doesn't actually show the art work etc or dvd cases etc on kodi. Whilst running through the Amazon Fire stick. Is this normal then ? Or am I missing something
