Myself and the missus are in the market for a new bed and mattress for several reasons:
- our old one is thoroughly past its best
- missus has a bad back
- we are decorating the bedroom and spilt paint on the frame of existing one (which is old and shoddy)

Now, we appreciate that the frames are bit of an acquired taste with the decoration of the room etc, however mattresses...

I am absolutely bewildered by the sheer range of these mail order vacuum packaged mattresses that you can get - Simba, Eve, Emma, Tempur etc etc.

Has anyone any comments on them, if they have used one, and loved/hated it?

Mattresses are too subjective for anybody to make any suggestions.
We purchased a new mattress just before Christmas, after the last one had lasted us a decade.
Decided to pop into Dreams and we proceeded to spend about an hour moving from mattress to mattress until we found the one we liked - firm, but not so firm you fall off it.
We went combination this time, pocket sprung with a memory foam layer on the top.

I won't discuss prices as I'm pretty sure the last time a conversation came up on mattresses it got all rather heated when it came to price, but spent more or less 4 figures on it.
But it'll last us a decade again and you do spend an awful lot of hours on it.

Get yourself to Bensons or Dreams and try them out - not as if you have to buy it from there.

I've just ordered a new Emma Original in their boxing day sales :) Should be arriving this week, it was a Which? best-buy and has a 100-day no-quibble free returns policy.

I bought an Emma mattress but it just was not right, went on to get a Casper and it is excellent though why a couple of handles are not included to make turning far easier given the price is disappointing, but it is very comfortable.

How do these free returns policy work? Any time up to 100 days I can just call them and get them to pick it up?

Wanted to try one of these for a while but am super fussy about my mattress so don't want to be stuck with one! :(
