But Beejive can be currently set to a maximum of 7 days for a session timeout. You can can set to push notifications or via email.

Usability wise, it's an IM client, does exactly what it's supposed to and I've had no issues with it whatsoever.

Also caters for all the main IM client types as well.

I've just been faced with the same decision, and went for Beejive. With a free Yahoo mailbox you can set up push. It works great.... when it works. Over the past few days I've had a few instances where I didn't get any push notifications, and a few instances where I did get them but they came after an hour or so. It currently looks like this is a Beejive server issue (when the app is closed, you are actually logged into MSN/Facebook etc via their servers, not directly from your device). But when it works, it's very good indeed.
 
IM+ works great for me, some good functionality in that app and the push feature works perfectly for me. I login to Facebook/MSN and leave them on during the day, auto message feature when the app is off is pretty nice too.
 
I started off with IM+. I also grabbed Beejive for comparison. I stuck with IM+. Maybe this is because I got used to IM+. The only thing I missed was being able to change my profile picture.
 
On IM+ you can now have display pics but can't change them it'll just use the one you last selected on your PC IM client. It used to have no display pcs whatsoever until an update last month.
