Been out of the photography game, do I now buy mirrorless?

Hi all,

I’ve not owned a camera for a while and recently wanted to buy something decent for connecting to my computer for live streaming DJ sets. So I’d like something that has an audio input, excellent video capabilities and ya know, aside from that a camera has to take great photos right!?

It seems things have moved on dramatically, my previous camera was a mirrorless but I didn’t feel like it was as good as my previous DLSR.
I’ve been looking at some of the Sony alpha range, but reading some reviews mention that they have an overheating issue with video specifically. Would this be negated if I connect to OBS and use the camera as a passive device?

Any advice appreciated, I think as it stands I’m interested in a second hand alpha 6500. So my budget is approx £700

Best regards :)

The non-video specific Sony's can have problem with overheating.

I have an A7C, and it does not like being connected to a charger while recording video, it will overheat. Dummy battery may solve that issue, but connecting the HDMI out while charging is a nono.

The A7S series do less processing as they use a lower res sensor, so deal with it better apparently, and obviously stuff like the FX30 has active cooling, but is out of your price range.
